ABOUT

Goat Gardeners began in 2018 on a small farm in Erin, Ont. Owner Bill Miles had the idea when he looked out at his goats roaming the land and thought “why do I even bother mowing the lawn?” Miles wanted to move away from the use of pesticides once he learned the impact that these harsh chemicals have on the planet. A passionate environmentalist at heart, he felt he needed to do his part to help protect the bees, other insects and organisms while fighting climate change.
Miles was born and raised in Erin, Ont. and lives on the farm that has been in his family for generations. His grandfather believed in growing and harvesting without the use of pesticides and chemicals. This also inspired Miles to go back to his family’s roots with the Goat Gardeners business.
Growing up, Miles spent his summers living with his grandparents. His grandfather bought him his first goat at the age of eight. It was only fitting that this first goat was named Billy. Today, the lineage of the Goats Gardeners herd can be traced back to Billy. While no longer with us, his legacy carries on.
What began with a few local farmers as clients has now expanded across Ontario. Goat Gardeners takes the hassle out of lawn and garden maintenance. Better for the environment than harsh chemicals and a spectacle to watch, Goat Gardeners is an award-winning landscaping business. MEET THE HERD

Bill
Founder, owner. and head of the herd. Bill spends 10-12 hours a day on the farm every day except Sunday, when he watches his beloved Buffalo Bills.

Ellie
Referring to Ellie as our only nanny is a double entendre. She keeps the boys in line and is incredibly patient. Ellie is our #girlboss.

Jane
Bill's eldest granddaughter. Jane helps take care of the entire team and handles all administrative tasks. She has also undertaken the social media.

Henry
Very humble and a little camera shy. Henry is a dedicated buck and always gets the job done. He even manages to leave room for dessert.

Pepper
Man and goats' best friend. Pepper is the guardian for all of his dear friends. He just wishes they were better at playing fetch with him.

Ramsey
If we had a goat congeniality award, Ramsey would win by a landslide. Always the herd clown, he keeps us on our toes (and hooves).
